Taking early Chinese military uniforms as a starting point, Patrik Ervell throws down a lotta subtlety, tones and style into his latest collection for Fall/Winter 2010. You can definitely see the inspiration in some of the pieces with the cuts of the jackets almost Mao-ish and the width of the pants or the shoulder silhouettes. Yet, it’s completely removed from being overtly military inspired. I suppose its because he tends to always go for these soft shades or how he adds a different texture like wool or rubber to things. It’s techy and synthetic but simple and wholly modern. As always with the American designer, his outerwear looks awesomesauce.
